During her tenure as the Ambassador of Finland to India, Her Excellency Ms. Nina Vaskunlahti, visited Wärtsilä’s Delivery Centre in Khopoli on June 14, 2019.

As part of her visit to the 30-year-old centre, Ambassador met with the local Wärtsilä management and employees, and was given an in-depth understanding of the company’s efforts towards introducing world class infrastructure to India’s Energy and Marine sectors. She was guided on a tour of the recently modernized Wärtsilä manufacturing facility as well.
During the visit, the Ambassador highlighted, “Finnish companies operating in India have always considered India as a strategic business destination and have invested extensively here. Wärtsilä’s manufacturing unit here at Khopoli is an active testimony. Finest of human capital with good facilities can reap positive benefits for Finnish companies operating here.”
She also participated in a tree plantation initiative of the company and planted an Ashoka tree sapling, a tree native to the Indian sub-continent, in the Wärtsilä factory premises.
