Dear Industry Colleagues,

As I complete my term as FINCHAM’s Chairperson on March 31st, I take this opportunity to thank and

congratulate all of you on our journey so far. In a little over a year, we have gone from setting up the Chamber, enlisting membership of some of the key Finnish companies in India, to organizing several events which have been well received by our members, and developing some valuable partnerships with key industry bodies such as the CII, as well as domestic and European bilateral chambers. In 2019, FINCHAM India has been recognised by FINNCHAM Helsinki as an affiliate bilateral chamber in India.

Needless to say, the support and contribution of our colleagues from the Embassy, and particularly our Honorary Board Members has been invaluable. In close cooperation with the Embassy, we have been able to organise roadshows for our members to explore opportunities for B2B collaborations, and have been actively presenting sectoral concerns at the EEG meetings.  Recently, we have also taken steps in furtherance of strengthening the Nordic collaboration and hope to find synergies which could be beneficial to all, especially given the challenges of the current times. I am especially pleased to share that w.e.f. 1st April, 2020, in addition to Finnish companies in India, FINCHAM India’s membership is being opened up to Indian as well as non-Finnish European companies which have a business interest in Finland. We hope that our new members would bring on board their expertise and vibrancy and help the Chamber move closer towards its objectives.

Over the last year, it has been heartening to see the growing and active participation at our Quarterly Members Meetings, and new initiatives being led by our members such as the FINCHAM Skills/Mentorship Program, and Joint CSR activity. We still have a long way to go and I hope to continue to support and contribute to FINCHAM’s activities and initiatives in my capacity as a Member of the Board.

Once again, I’d like to thank all our members, without whose support we would not have come this far. As I hand over the reigns to Mr. Amit Gossain (Managing Director, KONE Elevator India Pvt. Ltd) and Mr. MC Sureshkumar (Managing Director, CARGOTEC India Pvt. Ltd) as the new Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Chamber, I wish them both the very best for a great journey ahead!

Yours Sincerely,

Neeraj Sharma

Chairman
Finland Chamber of Commerce in India
